Special Movie Screening: Jafar Panahi's award-Winning film, Offside

Soccer Silicon Valley, the San Jose Earthquakes, Rosie McCann's Irish Pub and Restaurant, Norouz Spring Festival Committee and J. Ben Absalom cordially invite you to an exclusive screening of Jafar Panahi's award-winning, smart comedy "Offside" on Sunday, August 5th, at 6:00 PM at the Camera 12 Cinemas, 201 South Second Street in downtown San Jose.

Tickets are only $5.00 each, and your attendance will help raise awareness and funding for the future establishment of an Iranian Community Center in San Jose. "Offside" runs 93 minutes, and is rated PG for language throughout and some thematic elements. You can watch a trailer for the film here. "Offside" has received rave reviews from a number of critics, including those at the BBC, New York Times, Boston Globe, and San Francisco Chronicle. It is in Persian with English subtitles.

Many Iranian girls love soccer as much as their countrymen and sports fans all over the world but they are prevented by law from attending soccer matches in their country. Inspired by the day when his own daughter was refused entry to a soccer stadium in Iran, Jafar Panahi's OFFSIDE follows a day in the life of a group of Iranian girls attempting to watch their team's World Cup qualifying match against Bahrain at the stadium in Tehran.

Tickets may be purchased at the box office or online (all major credit cards accepted). Tickets are non-refundable. We expect a sellout, so be sure to get your tickets early!
